Bettering Our Worlds (BOW) Ltd.

I am Co-Founder and Community and Communications Officer at BOW.Ltd, a University of Sheffield spin-out.

We are working to lower the barriers of entry to robotics, to make robotics technology available to more people.

We have created the ‘Android of Robotics’: a robotics software platform that will allow applications to run on any robot, through any operating system and hardware configuration.

Imagining Technologies for Disability Futures

A Wellcome Trust-funded project.,itDf asks what ideas of body and personhood are at stake in these processes. How are hopes and fears about our bodies and minds expressed in the ideas we create, the stories we tell ourselves, and the products we design, when we imagine our interactions with technology?

The main focus of my present research with Sheffield Robotics includes:

The social impact of robotics, virtual reality, teleoperation and other emerging technologies

The cultural history of technology, with a particular interest in our attitudes towards robots, and our transhumanist dreams

Ethics of innovation (AI, robotics); responsible research and innovation
